School of Public Health Hosts Academic Forum on Emerging Technologies in Health Inspection and Environmental Monitoring

On May 15, 2025, the School of Public Health at Nanchang University hosted an academic forum at the Qianhu Campus, bringing together faculty members and graduate students for scholarly exchange. The forum featured keynote presentations by Prof. Qian Xu from the School of Public Health at Southeast University and Prof. Ping Ding, Director of the Department of Health Inspection and Quarantine at the Xiangya School of Public Health, Central South University. The session was chaired by Prof. Xianglei Cheng.

Prof. Xu delivered a lecture titled "Exploring a New Methodology System for Health Inspection Based on Functionalized Nanofiber Membranes". She discussed current challenges in practical health inspection and analyzed key considerations in the selection of novel functional materials. Building on these materials, her team has investigated innovative detection mechanisms and developed new methodological frameworks, which have been advanced through collaborative applications. She also shared recent research progress, offering participants insights into emerging directions in material-based analytical technologies.

Prof. Ding presented on the application of photoelectrochemical biosensing technologies in environmental and health monitoring. She introduced her research group's work on environmental pollutant detection, monitoring of pathogenic microorganisms, and the integration of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for infectious wounds. Through case studies, she demonstrated the broad potential of photo/electro biosensing technologies in public health practice and research.

During the Q&A session, faculty members and students engaged in active discussion with the speakers, exploring methodological approaches and future research directions. The forum provided participants with exposure to emerging technologies in health inspection and environmental monitoring, and encouraged interdisciplinary thinking in public health research.
