Addressing Major Global Public Health Challenges

Prof. Lu delivered a presentation titled "Antimicrobial Resistance - A Growing Threat to Modern Medicine and Global Health". He emphasized that antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has emerged as one of the most pressing global public health challenges of the 21st century. Citing data from the World Health Organization, he noted that AMR is responsible for more than one million deaths worldwide each year, posing significant challenges to modern healthcare systems.

Analyzing Trends and Response Strategies

During the lecture, Prof. Lu examined AMR from three key perspectives:

Current Situation: He explained the biological mechanisms of resistance, global transmission trends, and patterns observed in China, highlighting irrational drug use and agricultural misuse of antimicrobials as major drivers.

Innovative Responses: He discussed emerging solutions integrating AI technology and personalized medicine, as well as international best practices in antimicrobial stewardship.

Global Collaboration: He stressed the need for cross-border and interdisciplinary cooperation, underscoring the important role of developing countries in AMR prevention and control.
